A School of Visual Arts Teaching Film
I had so much fun working on The Book Signing - a teaching film with the SVA MPS Directing students, faculty, Scott Cohen, Sean Patrick Reilly, an incredible cast & crew. It’s always a pleasure to watch Bob Giraldi direct!
I am fortunate to have worked on many student films from NYU, Columbia, Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema and The School of Visual Arts (SVA). Something unique that the SVA Master’s Program does is shoot “teaching films” with new students - produced by the department with all key roles filled by faculty or professionals brought in to teach on set fundamental aspects of various film crafts.
For example, I was a weapons handler on the film and taught the new students the fundamentals of set safety and protocol regarding firearms - using the Industry Wide Safety Bulletin as the framework. Stunt department and set safety are critical issues often neglected in student film programs. A huge tip of the hat to SVA for bringing me in to work on their teaching films, as well as to teach Intro to Stunt Department to their directing students.
